Had a brilliant student workshop at Hull University, exploring collaboration and physicality in the context of the string quartet. Many of the students got really involved in the final micro-composition challenge I set them, and the quartet premiered over twenty new twenty-second pieces in the session! The Mavron Quartet are the ideal collaborators for this kind of work – so open, always with a joke, and so ready to depart convention and try something new. This was followed by a concert, which included my piece Self Revolutions:
